TO BE A GOSPEL-SHAPED COMMUNITY
The gospel is the good news that Jesus, though being in the form of God, took on flesh and entered into our world to live a perfect life and die the death sinners deserved so that all who believe in Him may receive the forgiveness of sins and the gift of eternal life. (Jn 3:16)
As a gospel-shaped community, we believe that the gospel is the power of God for salvation and for transformation. Through the gospel of Jesus we are made a new creation, and through the gospel we are enabled to live for the glory of God. (Rom 1:16; Col 3:12-17)
The gospel enables us to rest in the finished work of Jesus. We are no longer under condemnation and are liberated from all our guilt and shame. We seek to grow in holiness and serve in response to what God has done for us. (Rom 8:1; 1 Cor 6:9-11; Eph 2:8-10)
The gospel gives us a new identity as God’s beloved children. As such we seek to please Him by understanding His Word and allowing His truths to inform the way we do church and the way we live. (1 John 3:1; 2 Tim 3:16-17; Ps 119:105)
The gospel unites us with other believers. As such we are committed to growing together in holiness. We seek the flourishment of the church and humbly unite together to glorify God. (1 Pet 2:5, 9; 1 Cor 12:12)
The gospel enables us to love one another. We seek to be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave us. We desire to share God’s love with unbelievers. (Eph 4:32; Jn 3:16)
